Frequently asked questions about the Kündig product shop

What are the minimum order quantities?

The minimum quantity is set per product. For most products it is 500 kg, as in the categories dried products, dried fruit and nuts, frozen products and juices, as well as for seeds, pseudocereals and precooked pulses. Raw pulses and grains such as wheat, spelt or maize are available from 5,000 kg.

Which organic qualities and certifications are available?

Many products are available in organic quality on request. Depending on the category, further qualities are offered: Bio Suisse for raw pulses, Bio Knospe for frozen products and juices, and Demeter for juices and some frozen products. In the shop, these qualities are listed per product as extras on request.

How is a quote prepared?

In the shop, the required products are selected together with the quantities needed and submitted as a single request. On this basis, Kündig prepares an individual quote. Prices are not listed in the shop, and there is no ordering or payment directly in the shop; prices are part of the quote. Extras such as organic qualities or germ reduction are also available on request.

What options are there for germ reduction and food safety?

Since 1994, the Kündig Group has operated plants for the BIOSTERIL® vacuum saturated steam process in Ritschenhausen, Thuringia. This steam treatment reduces germ counts in dried plant-based raw materials by several orders of magnitude. In the shop, Biosteril® Entkeimt (germ-reduced by BIOSTERIL® steam treatment) is listed on request for dried vegetables, dried herbs and mushrooms, dried fruit, seeds and precooked pulses; nuts carry the extras Entkeimt (germ-reduced) and 5 Log. For dried products, the Kündig Food Safety Tower is added: it takes every batch through at least six detection and cleaning processes, including optical sorting, X-ray and metal detection.

Which cuts and processing forms are available?

This depends on the product. Common cuts are whole, ground and powder, as well as cut sizes from 1 mm to 20 mm, for example 1 mm, 3 mm or 10 mm. Other forms include flakes, granules, slices, cubes, rings or rubbed. Juice concentrates are listed in qualities from 60 to 70 Brix.

Who is the shop for?

The shop is aimed at companies in the food industry, such as purchasing, product development and production teams in bakeries, manufacturers of ready meals, snacks, muesli and beverages, and food service and catering. It is run by W. Kündig & Cie AG, a family business founded in Zurich in 1920 that operates worldwide for the food and pharmaceutical industries and is still 100 percent owned by the Kündig family.
